We have been of service to women awakening their “Inner Feminine Leader” and have provided a safe place for women to BECOME…This month we are exploring the feminine leadership principle of Self Acceptance.
On our growth journeys, many have found temporary satisfaction in delicious food, have opened our hearts toward spiritual matters, and have focused on self love to find peace of mind and heart just as in Elizabeth Gilbert’s famous book Eat, Pray, Love http://www.elizabethgilbert.com/books/eat-pray-love/ ( Which I highly recommend if you haven’t enjoyed it yet).
For many in our community, there is a deep desire for expansion in personal growth, business matters, and spiritually. Today we are introduced to multiple growth opportunities and messages the how to’s…, the 3 easy steps for…but let me tell you, if Self Acceptance isn’t within your own body, mind and spirit much of what you read and courses you take can fall to the way side.
Self Acceptance is magical in that it can free you from the prison of your negative self criticism, self talk, and sabotage behavior. That’s EXCELLENT news! But how do we accept ourselves? The Goddess Collective proposes that Self Acceptance isn’t a destination but rather it’s a personal growth path. Because let’s face it, if we could all just choose self acceptance and have it integrate into our daily lifestyle…we would.
So you may be asking yourself “ What is Self Acceptance?” and
How can I get some of that? EXCELLENT question! First let’s talk about the difference between self acceptance and self esteem. Many of us have developed self esteem over our life experience. Usually self esteem is connected to some sort of attribute such as I am a good dancer, I am a brilliant thinker, or a culinary genius. We get our accolades as young children from our parents, teachers, and peer group. It is the reflection from our immediate surroundings which can either build or deconstruct our self image and therefore self esteem. Self-esteem is a reflection into our value and how worthwhile we see ourselves. As adults, self-esteem can become more integrated and self reliant however we usually focus on what we are good and capable at to draw our self esteem image. Now Self-Acceptance is much more than self-esteem! When we're self-accepting, we're able to embrace all facets of ourselves not just the positive, more "esteem-able" parts. We can recognize our weaknesses, limitations, and foibles, but this awareness in no way interferes with our ability to fully accept ourselves. Self-acceptance is the process of befriending the Unconditioned Self. This is the part of you that is more than just your name, your history, your story, your failures or your successes. You are more than just your experiences or how other people perceive you. In essence self acceptance is the total embrace of all of who we are light and the shadow.
Often, we avoid accepting our selves. Instead we wear masks to convey to the world how we want to be perceived. We do this even if internally we are not in alignment with the mask. For example, your mask might be presenting how HAPPY you are. You wear a smile wherever you go. You use a happy tone when speaking to people. You try to think positively but behind the mask something else is happening. This is very common. Behind the mask you may be feeling insecure, doubt, anger or sadness. With Self Acceptance you GET TO embrace ALL of who you are, even the vulnerable parts. There is NOTHING wrong with you. Through Self Acceptance you can then understand what needs your awareness. You are no longer denying YOU. If you have parts that are depressed or sad those parts simply need your Acceptance and with that integration or growth can emerge. With the light of your own consciousness you can then take steps to be truly happy and drop the mask. Because WHEEEW…holding up that mask can be exhausting. You get to create the life you want to live! So in essence, the first step in Self Acceptance, is simply to acknowledge your masks and begin to make the choice to shine your light of consciousness into your daily living.
At The Goddess Collective we will help you get in touch with the dominant masks you wear and use them as points of entry for MORE Self Acceptance.
